This trick helps prevent lipstick from getting on your teeth

When you apply lipstick, do you tend to get it on your teeth? Good news: a TikTok trick could put an end to this inconvenience.

Whether it's through clumsiness or lack of time, many of us have already put lipstick on our teeth. Of course, we only notice this stain several hours later, in a mirror at work or in the middle of a dinner with friends. A situation that is far from ideal. Fortunately, a French makeup artist has revealed her secret to avoiding this type of inconvenience... We explain.

Lipstick: be careful to choose it well!

Lipstick, like other cosmetic products, can pose health risks if some of the ingredients used are controversial.

So here are some things to keep in mind before you make your choice on the shelves:

  • Heavy metals: Some studies have shown that lipsticks may contain traces of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, or aluminum.

  • Parabens: These preservatives, widely used in cosmetics, are suspected of being endocrine disruptors. They could therefore affect fertility.

  • Phthalates: These chemicals, considered endocrine disruptors, have been mostly banned in cosmetics by the European Union. But some still exist, such as diethyl phthalate or DPE.

  • Formaldehyde: Also known as formic aldehyde or formalin, formaldehyde can be present as a preservative in some cosmetics . It is classified as a carcinogen and can burn the lips, tongue, throat, and stomach.

  • Perfumes and essential oils: Some people may be sensitive to synthetic perfumes or essential oils. They can cause allergic reactions or irritation.

Faced with all these problematic ingredients, reading labels carefully is essential. The Yuka application can be very useful in this regard: it allows you to know its composition via a simple scan of a barcode.

How to avoid getting lipstick on your teeth?

On TikTok, French influencer and makeup artist Marion Caméléon explains that the problem, when applying lipstick , comes from the corners of the lips. Indeed, when you apply too much lipstick, it accumulates at the corners and forms small filaments. When speaking or eating, these filaments can move to the teeth and stain them.

To remedy this, the makeup artist then advises to take a cotton swab, place it horizontally between the lips, then pinch it. Then simply slide it from right to left, " to remove the excess that is inside the lips ".

His last advice?

If you feel like it's still a little thick you can take a small paper towel and just pinch your lips inside. That will remove the part that's inside ," she confirms.
